The 666 Ounces of hells golden door
The 666 Ounces of hells golden door.
The demon came, sent by my sister’s hand,
She borrowed money from Lucifer to play and win.
To claim the gold, she knew I held.
The demon maundered through my life, a shadow in the hall;
By night he’d shake me wake, by day he’d follow me.
All paid for by my sister.
For years I lived in terror, like a child who was afraid.
He said he was a double agent, who ever paid got his attention.
A knight in a game of chess.
He said, "Pay the price and I will go but where all in the game”
But my life was ill-fated, my pockets low.
He wrecked my world and called me ignorant and young,
While the weight of a family curse around my neck was hung.
The gold door was stolen by kin long ago,
Trying to open and walk through
Instead, it broke into pieces and threw the whole lineage in the dark.
A debt passed on and on, until paid
A poison in the blood, a debt that wasn't mine.
But I found the secret: I could pay my share in points
Thank goodness I had gathered points in the walk of life.
I gave him a share I’d earned along the hard and weary road,
To lift the heavy burden of that ancient, stolen load.
My sister, in dying gasps, had wished the door to be her own;
She was prepared to kill for it.
As she could then hide her crimes.
The Queen she was on the throne.
Then the Master called the game: "Play and you must pay."
To walk through the door you must be a pure soul.
She stood there cloaked in "virtue," imposing rules on me,
Sending the demon at certain times to attack me.
Claiming she was sinless, though they lacked the eyes to see.
They didn’t read the rules that I held but one ounce of the 666 required;
She wanted the whole prize for which their evil hearts had fired.
The Master put his gloves down;
"You have paid," he said of me, " paid it well."
He took my single ounce and claimed my sisters share as his prize,
The loser of the game she played with murder in her eyes.
Now she must pay it all back, trapped in deep dark hell.
Too evil to even recognise Lucifer’s cruel joke.
Is jealousy that drove her to make me accountable to pay my way.
She wanted money for the crimes against her which was none.
She would have been an evil spirit rampaging if she had won.
The demon showed me a vision of her trapped in hell with a massive debt.
As he left, he said “he’s finished with the wrath on me” and left.
