The 23rd Poem

I am the good shepherd, I know my own, and my own know me
I'm just forever learning your glory and majesty 
Character that stretches across the heavens and blankets me
Because you first loved, I am now able to say
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
Meaning your grace is sufficient especially when life feels insufficient 
Especially when my heart feels inadequate
Your power gains a boost in the humility of my weakness
So to anyone who's week has been less
Than what you wanted remember it's exactly where God knew you'd be
God help me to lie down in the green pastures of scripture 
Instead of laying in puddles of sin 
Why do the puddles grow with my growth
Maturity strengthens while I also understand it's easier to drown
Show me the quietness of living water
That you may restore my soul
I know you're guiding me towards righteousness for your name sake
But it feels like my name is at stake
This is nothing but pride needing to be burned at the stake
For who am I, outside of who you created,
Nothing; for my purpose comes from you
My purpose is to point back to you
So when I lose myself in the valleys, and shadows
Fear will not become evil but a reminder of the eternal God,
Who never leaves me no matter how alone I feel
His rod and staff comfort me 
Meaning His love corrects and rebukes just as much as it hugs 
And if He prepares a table for your enemies, it
Shows his protection also loves those who mean you harm, so 
How much more will He love His daughter and prodigal son
The anointed, the blessing from an unjust but necessary sacrifice
Now the blessings overflow past understanding
The blessing of his goodness and mercy becoming my 
breath
