That Which Was Never Lost

She watches as the blood drips, From his wounded chest, Pouring out like a velvet wine, From where his heart once slept. Seeing the tears fall, As his love begins to die, And the happiness in his eyes, Slowly fading, As the darkness drifts in. She lays a hand upon his shoulder, And tilts his head up, Towards her face, Staring into his cold gray eyes, Seeing the loneliness dwelling within. She leans her head forward, And plants a kiss upon his head, And whispered, “I was always your heart, And I was never lost, Love does not die, It only grows apart”. She wraps her arms around him, Her warmth feels real, As a beat comes from the hole, Where his heart once was, Because now, He has found what was once lost. “Only your love, Heals these scars, You are my heart, I see so clearly now, At last I have found you, And I will never lose you again, I promise”.
