That Was Then; This Is Now
Times have changed
And so have I
But not tonight
As I close my eyes.
Looking back
To yesteryear
I seek to find
And face my fears.
Where did I go
What happened to me
To lose the girl
Inside I'll see.
Stuck in my dreams
Remembering the fun
Don't want to grow old
Forever young.
Riding bikes
Playing games
Skipping rope
Just isn't the same.
Hanging out
And partying with friends
Came to be
The usual trend.
Ballet, Tap,
Gymnastics too
Twirling batons
And flags I could do.
Somewhere in time
My identity swayed
Age took over
And turned my hair gray.
Gravity also played
It's part
It took all of me
Except my heart.
So if you see my eyes are closed
Don't wake me from my dream
Cause living life for me today
Isn't always what it seems.
