That Old Rugged Cross

Wherever I go and to wherever I may wonder
I will always know even as I continue to ponder
That the old rugged cross I always keep by my side
For it was from His loss that I can walk with pride

For each time I come to see or to even just hear
Knowing that I am now free and that the Lord is so near
Then in seeing His pain, His amazing loving sacrifice
Just so Heaven we could obtain as He paid our price

Looking at that Cross on the wall the pain in our Lord's Face
Our Savior took our fall and He did it with such complete grace
So as I bend my knees in offering up my every thought
A pain one now better sees in what my sin has wrought

They may try to take them down in the covering of His Face
Trying to remove His Crown acting in complete disgrace
But the King is coming back to reign in eternal Glory
Unbeknownst to those who lack any concept of His story

Oh that old rugged Cross
