That First Christmas Day

The story's told from year to year, How Magi saw a Star appear. Of shepherds in a field by night, And choirs of Angels singing bright. A virgin girl rides into town, Though giving birth, no room is found. A cattle stall all filled with hay, The only place the Babe could lay. And o'er the years the story's grown, A merry Elf flies home to home. Then trees aglow with flicker lights, And sleigh bells ring what fun tonight. All through the house there's not a sound, And children squeal when presents found. All celebrations here on Earth, Remembering our Saviors' Birth. But look beyond the starry sky, And ask yourself the reason why. For God the Father had a plan, To show His Love to fallen man. No longer could He bear to see, The plight of sinners Eternally. So stepping down from Heaven's Throne, He paid the price, Himself alone. Imagine now the streets of Gold, A City full of sights untold. And how the Halls of Heaven rang, As millions of white Angels sang. The Father's Heart, so happy now, Receiving those who to Him bow. For man can freely choose his way, Because of that first Christmas Day.
