That Final Close
As faithful as time can only ever be
There is what time can call a final close
Are there years when a year we see?
Are you as faithful where time only rose?
Faithful were days to give us years
Faithful were ways we know to live by
Olden debts for younger tears
To only have answers asking more whys
And we bear what we cannot bare
Of that we serve beyond our worth
We are diminish though we flare
We know hate because we love
Can you promise me something you cannot fulfill?
Why do we promise for sometimes to fail?
Have you a cup to know to fill...by your will?
Or have you a cure... that one solemn ail?
Are you faithful to time to one day see?
That yesterday for when tomorrow rose
As faithful as time can only ever be
Have you that time we call a final close?
