That Father of Mine

I knew an old man who gave me some advice,
Some of it was harsh but most of it nice.
He helped me go from day to day,
He helped me see things in a different way.
When troubles bothered me,to this old man and I would talk.
And then through life we would walk.
He would show me the lessons he had learned,
And by doing right the things he had earned.
He is gone now,but not in my mind,
He was a good old man, that father of mine.
