Notes About The Poem

I always dreamed as a young girl of having a big family get together at my own house every holiday season. Sadly it's not like that. But at least I can get one or two to come so I make do with that. No one should ever have to spend the holidays alone.

Thanksgiving Dinner

I roasted stuffed turkey, made candied yams,
Made holiday jello, baked pies, dirtied pans.

Made mashed potatoes to cover with gravy,
Glazed carrots and biscuits, I'm cooking like crazy.

My daughter came over with grandchild in tow,
Giving my holiday that much needed glow.

I love the holidays and gathering with family.
It's so good to see everyone gathering happily,

Laughing and joking and sharing good cheer.
I wish more would come celebrate with all of us here.

You have always envisaged a big family, and although your daughter and grandchild brought you joy when they arrived, you wished that you had another 5 married children with grand children sitting round your table. We have two boys (married) but neither of them want to bring a child into this catastrophic world. Hugs and blessings, Judy. Jennifer. P.S. Hope you are not cross with me about the Trump poem, we are all unique individuals and everyone has their own view - I respect yours, H&B Jenn.

Love written into every line, Judy. Perhaps your daughter and her baby will feel it, and provide that 'glow' oftener this coming year. Good food, Good times, and Family! ~ Gershon

The more the merrier, we usually say, but it does not have to be so, as long as we are not alone. I enjoyed your delightful poem, Judy. Regards & Blessings // pau

Oh, I'd love to take you up on the invitation, Judy! It sounds like a joyful get together. I was alone for two Christmases in a row, so I hope travel restrictions are eased this year. Enjoyed your poem, Judy. Hugs, Carolyn

It does look like we'll have restrictions that would prevent me from traveling to NJ for Christmas. I know Boris Johnson is stepping up protective measures in the U.K. Hope you will be with family over the holidays.
