Thanks

Everyone,
I am here to apologize for what I've done.
You haven't talked to me in a while,
you look away when I walk passed and smile.

It was something I did in the past or before,
but what it was I'm not sure.
I thought if I showed you the real me,
that you would like it and be happy.

Now I feel like something is wrong with who I am,
because I showed you and you hid like a clam.
I let you in and I only do that for a few,
maybe now you see why I select the few I do.

I'm not sure what you had for expectations,
but I did not meet them and brought on frustrations.
It's me who is feeling all the guilt and shame,
and it's my life that you play as a game.

I'm not perfect, I do have flaws you see,
but I'm not good enough for you to accept me.
I hate the way you are making me feel,
because it's my dignity you did steal.

One day I'll feel good again,
I'm just not sure when,

No one can steel your dignity unless you let them, my friend and please don't let them for they have forsaken theirs in the first place and look for something to replace what they miss. Don't be their victim, it will not restore them, but you will have altered your own course, is what comes to mind after reading your open heart poem. Thanks for sharing. Caroline.

Thank you for sharing your poetry Chris. Poets here offer such diverse writings and to me it is a pleasure to read each and everyone. I will not be here at the Soup to read from Friday through Monday. I hope you will find mountains of inspiration during that time. I look forward to reading when I return. Have a great weekend. Love, Carol
