Notes About The Poem

If anything was ever meant to be, it was our marriage.

Thank You God For Barbara

Thank you God for Barbara
That you brought her in my life
That she said the words, “I do”
And she became my loving wife.

We were meant to be together
For several months we had rehearsed
If there is one regret, I have,
It's that she was not my first.

Before we met, we both were lost
Love and life was slipping past
I 'm very sure, You intervened,
Arranged a marriage that would last

Saw two people who were soul mates
More than lovers, best of friends
Who would say their vows and mean them
Would be together 'til the end.

We shared our all our everything
Our much loved daughter, turned out nice
She gave us two Granddaughters
Also the best, not once, but twice.

In January, of this year
You came and lifted up my love
February saw our first Great Grand
While Barb was watching from above

Thank you God for half a century
Plus two years and then some more
No doubt that we experienced
What our married life was for

Barb's love is still within me
Although her life on Earth is done
We will meet again in Heaven
She will always be the one
