Testing

Five, four, three, two, one
I should be going to sleep
Is anyone there?

It is hard to talk
To the precious one snoring
Sleeping so soundly

I toss and I turn
Trying to find real comfort
I take a deep breath

Foolish wandering
Leaves me wide awake tonight
Idigestion too!

What was I thinking?
Coffee, tea, and chocolate!
Drastic recipe

It does serve me right
Such indulgences all day
Have a consequence

Empty the full mind
Testing the limits of time
Will catch up with me

Tomorrow will come
Bringing new conversations
I must be ready

Anyone who has had trouble sleeping can relate to your words. Too much coffee keeps me awake too--and here I sit with my cup. Thank you for sharing this poem with us. Keep on writing! Karen
