Testimony

Loving you feels like a religion.
One where I am your most devoted disciple, patiently awaiting your provision.
And I believe that you will provide because you were the start to my salvation.
The center of my personal heaven, all I ask is that you consider my supplication.

Funny thing is, I've never knelt for gods, but for you I chose to be a believer.
Worshipping you was second nature, like you were made to be its receiver.
Perhaps you aren't righteous or holy.
But you gave me a purpose,
You made me feel worthy.

However it seems that religion never truly changes.
Because even you don't see me as enough to be chosen, despite the sincerity of my praises.
I've always been labeled a sinner, beyond being saved.
But you gave me hope, you held out your hand with the grace I've always craved.

Your promise to me was sacred, like a covenant just for you and me.
You said I'd be anointed by you, that together we could be free.
Yet once again I am cast away, undeserving of your glory.
Maybe I was born a heathen, it's just the way god has written my story.

I've been on my knees before, tears in my eyes waiting for someone to hear my pleas.
But I'm losing faith in this religion, I can't bring myself to believe in a god that only wants me when I bleed.

So this is my final testimony.
Despite it all, I was blessed enough to know you,
Cursed enough to want you,
And damned enough to never be with you.
