Temptations
It’s great to be good;
just as we all should,
if only we could.
Temptations abound
they lie all around
and creep up on us
and after, it’s thus;
we regret and cuss.
We could close our eyes
as a compromise,
but tempters are wise,
and get in our head;
so easy mislead
at night in our bed;
when all is so dark
and life is too stark.
