Telling

sell yourself short
go ahead
make excuses
go ahead
I'll stay and watch your mouth move
and read your
pontification
but I know you are settling
for less than you are worth
my friend
your fear of being alone is harder, stronger, bigger
and you'll avoid embarrasment any day
how do you explain
to man after man
how you got your house
and your money?
do you lie there
and lie there
and tell tales of how you ripped the skin off your
ex-husband
to ensure your own freedom
I'd pay to see it
if they knew the tale
they might wonder
if they are safe
tell them
