Tell Me You Love Me

It was early evening Wanting to be alone They walked To the garden Fragrance of flowers Muted colors everywhere She stood on a low stone ledge Slightly above him Looking up he asked, Tell me you love me Why she asked He replied, Just say it She toyed with his emotions, Men don’t want love All they want is sex He said, Sex is a vague promise Love is forever Bored, she replied, Don’t fool yourself Love is only a memory He pleaded, Then tell me you love me And let me hold on to the memory Relenting she said, Hold me closer I’ll whisper the Words you want to hear.
