Tears of the Stone Soldier

cold, lifeless, stone; on the battlefield; feeling alone in the world; boom; crash; explosions and shells everywhere; confusion, panic, fear; scrambling to get out; scrambling to get to safety; running...always running; flee to safety, find safety at last; safety is here...or so he thinks; more shelling causes uproar and confusion; the noise...so loud...disorienting; the soldiers head is pounding...his ears are ringing; cant thing straight, cant see straight; wishing for shelter but finding none; mind racing; remember your training...hold steadfast, soldier...stand your ground; dont give up; we've almost got them; cirumstances changes...strategies renewed; the enemy approaches; surges forward like a flood; wave after wave...seeming to never cease; the soldier is battered; the soldier is weary; relief seems to never come; more and more the enemy comes; thinking; remember your training; be like stone, strong and steadfast; the soldier is discouraged; he doesnt know what to do; he doesnt know what to say; he only knows one thing...he cant do this alone; remember your training; be steadfast; hold your ground; be like a wall of stone; stone soldier; a crack forms; ever growing...winding around and around the stone soldier; doubt pervades; confusion comes; fear enters; the crack grows; starting to crumble; piece by piece the chips fall; crumbling; breaking; the stone soldier sheds a tear; the end is near; the tears of a stone soldier fall to the ground; does anybody here him?;.
