Tears of the Sky
Forked lightning so blinding,
the night is made into day,
deep thunder, earth quaking,
after a moment’s delay.
Smoke-like clouds of the heavens
creep in to make shade.
The canopy of darkness
fills the sky into which they fade.
Come again the roar of thunder,
come hear wind’s fierce sigh.
Flash there! The crack of lightning!
So angels may cry.
Rain splattering broken
to meet with the Earth,
the first drops have awoken
a tempest’s new birth.
Why cry, all you angels
and bellow all you gods?
Slam fists, clapping thunder,
set winds with a nod.
Dry tears with the sunlight,
break through misty clouds,
and smile with a rainbow,
for to nature bows.
