Tears of Soliloquy

With nothing to be
Memory's all he claims
As his own
As he wanders the streets
So alone

A wandering wayfarer of the abyss
He watches the rain find its way to darkness
In the sea
That desire, deep inside him
To be

And a need but to know
What it means to control
All these flames, deep inside
That cannot be denied
But must burn
Down to dust in his eyes
As he yearns
Only to realize

What calamity broke him
Humanity, truth
What catastrophe means
To the empty, the few
Who can know
What it ever has meant
To be whole

And now deep in his soul
As he watches earth's tears
Is the blinding reality of all these years
He's spent searching
So deeply inside
For his self
For the mask behind lies
Behind dilated eyes
Overeager to learn
What might be their demise

How he yearned
How he yearned
For the rain to fall down
From the stars to the ground

How he yearned

That the rain
Might fall down to the sea
Of his soul
