Tears From My Eyes

I'm fighting a battle
that you know I'm trying to win.
Pain in my body
has got me on the mend.

Struggling to find a way,
but I'm losing all doubt,
because this ain't what my life
should be all about.

I hurt on the outside,
just as well as on the inside.
People claim they love me,
but I'm finding out that's a lie.

When I ask them
if they can come
and visit for a minute or two,
they come up with every excuse
not to come and see me,
but still claim their love is true.

So I lie up in this bed,
and I'm here all alone.
These four walls are closing
like my destination is gone.

My body is acting crazy,
and this is not a script.
Sooner or later,
this movie is going to be over with.

So when the credits come up,
you better not look for your name,
because you had a chance
to be a part of this life of pain.

But you chose to be selfish
and follow your own heart.
You didn't seem to care
if mine was tearing apart.

Even though you say you love me,
that's not a perfect line,
because the last time you said
you were coming,
I knew you were lying.

So don't worry about me.
My tears will water my eyes.
They'll keep my mind growing,
with God right by my side.
