Teardrops
As a tear stains your innocent face
I’m terrified of what I can’t replace.
The love that we’ve both lost
Is going to come at a high cost.
The smell of soil hangs in the air,
Reminding me that life isn’t fair.
Neither one was ready for change,
But death had come to rearrange.
Silent drops begin to fall
And I’m lost in the misery of it all.
The rain gently mixes with the tears,
Remembering all those wonderful years.
Even as I’m clouded by sorrow,
I know I’ll still have you tomorrow.
The grief has left me blind;
But together, we’ll slowly leave the grave behind.
