Tangerine Trees And Marmalade Skies

An enigma
wrapped in mystery
covered in secrets
risking hell
A legend
from the ages
bereft of sages
casting spells
The message
nondescriptive
in ephemera
laden tongues
Lucy in the sky
bejeweling
screaming deafness
— silence won

Your title drew me in.. I once wondered if Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds was Lennon’s reference to LSD but Google states not..I’m unsure but I digress. Your poem fascinates me Kurt. I loved how you have referred to Churchill’s enigma quote and your use of the oxymoron-like “screaming deafness” - a possible reference to “The Sound Of Silence” maybe? Maybe not. It doesn’t really matter. Your poem means what it is and I honestly enjoyed the read. Kudos to the word ‘Dreamsleep’ too. Cheers - Gary

Thanks Gary. Much appreciated. Like Peter Yaro and Puff The Magic Dragon, I think Lennon lied (with good intentions) as to what it really was about.
