Taliban Fighter

Taliban fighter
Mind in a whirl
For love of his god
Shoots teenage girl
Places his bullet
Coldly in her head
Taliban fighter
Leaves her for dead

Medieval mind
Full of bigotry and hate
With twisted views
Centuries out of date
Taliban fighter
Don't you think it odd
Although you claim
You did it for your god

This little girl
Is still alive
Very good chance
She will survive
Taliban fighter maybe
In your god's eyes
You're a low creature
Loathed and despised

Taliban fighter
You bring much shame
By your acts supposedly
In your god's very name.
Taliban fighter
I think it too late
For any chance
To re educate.

Taliban fighter it would
Be better if you were dead
From well aimed bullet
Placed deep in your head.
When a dog is mad
You don't hesitate
But quickly and mercifully
Exterminate

I good poem Terry and your sentiments are just, But I feel looking at the other side is a must. The countries we call more "civilized" are guilty too. Our bombs and bullets and missiles don't always discriminate. We have killed many innocent men women and children too. We claim its in Freedom's name we don't always blame our God, sometimes we call it a mistake and a story on our news it doesnt always make, there is a need to hide, but I think we have to also look at the other side. Lots wont agree with me.

We are far from blameless - and I love your honesty. Sadly, when I was working for the Veterans Charity, I expressed such views and had to come off Social Media because some of the Veterans were threatening to kill me. Considering what i was doing at the time I found that rather ironica. We in the West have a lot to answer for. History is so important.

Absolutely agree with you. We spent 20 years there giving people hope then just pulled out in a disgraceful manner, just like Vietnam, and we had no right to be in either couture. Don’t expect many will agree with me. Still doesn’t change my opinion about the Taliban thoigh

excellent poem, terry! it boggles the mind how such destructive acts can be done in the name of religion. just awful!
