Tale of Two Cities and Two Captains

Well what the Dickens is going on? My choice as the greatest scribe and voice of our tribe Charles not himself a cricketing man but definitely a fan Twas…the tale of two skippers and two cities Both burdened by the weight of Great Expectations from both nations Cometh the hour cometh the Shubman Cooing classical looks…wooing crannies and nooks Eschewed the media news and views Won’t fluster will muster go gangbuster Light the fuse..end that Bazbat bluster Beacon of light..rewriting..redefining history Story of glory unlike the gory Bazball jackanory Gill with not just big but massive fat cat Virat boots to fill Now top of the bill..such skill and will he plied His pride and side wouldn't be denied Records tumbled….stats crumbled Critics..skeptics..cynics humbled..was a helluva ride.. But for his rival…all about survival…sadly no revival Stokesy…sketchy…scratchy…tetchy as he fumbled In a jumble..this..his batting abyss..hubris humbled Pardon the pun but hard as Big Ben does try Can’t literally buy a run…can’t outgun..outrun his career nadir…simply outspun Indian utopia..not whether but wherever whenever Sever…take the head of the snake Even on a feather bed..forever clever use of the leather Where do we begin…Stokesy’s cardinal sin Our flame haired laird can’t play spin Impaired stuck in a bog of Dickensian dystopia Chagrin din..can’t slog through the myopia smog Time to learn new tricks against turn for this old dog Can’t be just me who spies Stokesy..with fanned hands before my eyes On the telly or in the stands..hotpotch blotch so hard to watch.. Gill’s first innings score and continued sublime encore..well more is more Was a tour de force…changed the.. series course… While we know Ben is well beyond his prime…more stagger than swagger Ravaged and savaged by father time…one ton in 3 years. So let's finish with a bit more Dickens..more end of an era reservations Rather than great expectations…but elan masterplan of new talisman Shubman..his coronation and veneration..that celebration Well..it has been the tale of two skippers..one chipper going to town with rich pickins Tother going down the Big Dipper and of two cities..up in Leeds India looking pretty.. runs treasure trunked..but flunked..were debunked While Bazbat and Bazball were sunked..kerpkunked Humdrum ho hum doldrums down in Brum..as Gill Heaven sent..even without Boom boom present..could tell..hell bent Camera zoom..made it his event and went ..VA VA voom!
