Take Me To the Ocean

Take me to the ocean By Michelle Morris 21/11/2022 You stepped out onto the beach Not seeing the beauty that lay before you Thoughts and memories tumbling over So rapidly in your mind's-eye view Surrendering to your madness The hurt and betrayal felt so deep Walking into that surf Seemed like the purest relief And as you went into the ocean The Heavens could hear you sing... Oh, take me to the ocean Let me fall into her womb Feel the waves wash over me Grace and mercy to my tomb Oh, take me to the ocean Let me drown so peacefully Feel the water take me in More love than I could ever need They found you the next day You'd washed up onto shore You looked so very peaceful Never wanting more Now your time is over I wonder how you feel Do you look down from Heaven And regret your midnight ordeal And as I looked at you I thought I could hear you sing... Oh, take me to the ocean Let me fall into her womb Feel the waves wash over me Grace and mercy to my tomb Oh, take me to the ocean Let me drown so peacefully Feel the water take me in More love than I could ever need Even though you're gone now You don't seem far away Your voice seems to echo In this secluded bay Your ghost seems to haunt us Especially around midnight swims It's like you're giving us a warning Not to trust the feelings within We feel you're here with us and We can hear you sing... Oh, take me to the ocean Let me fall into her womb Feel the waves wash over me Grace and mercy to my tomb Oh, take me to the ocean Let me drown so peacefully Feel the water take me in More love than I could ever need © Michelle Morris, 2022
