Take Five

Tunes in meter five
are sung jazz, not jive.
Dave, in fifty-nine
made this rhythm shine;
with drums, bass, and sax
laid this winning wax
he, on piano
na nana, nana.
Funky Latin beat
having such conceit.
writ by Desmond, Paul;
played by one and all.
Lyrics by Lola;
ola payola!
It’s alright, take five,
I’m alive take five.
Now a classic tune
flies you to the moon;
tune in meter five
truly did survive.

This is an impressive, interesting, jiving write! I enjoyed every note you penned. CayCay

Thank you CayCay, it was a bit of whimsy, but I am so glad you enjoyed it

Dave Brubeck was one of my favorites. In fact, 'Take Five' was the first non-classical -- you know: Back, Mozart, Hayden, etc.-- composition I ever played on the piano. Back in the day, as they say. ~ gw

Do you listen to Jacques Loussier plays Bach? Still love his albums so many years later. Thank you for your kind comments Gershon
