I have no idea; I am not good at recognizing what is taboo.

Me neither, actually. Sometimes I put my foot in my mouth and say something that is taboo; then, I'm startled when someone points it out. I once told a dirty joke (which didn't seem dirty to me at all!) at a ladies' luncheon. They were very forgiving!

When Uncle Sam sent me to Germany, I quickly learnt that Germans consider a fart to be a natural function of the body, hence not worthy of comment nor apology since everyone does it. Travel certainly broadens the mind!

I don't think so, Rico. The thought just entered my crazy mind, and I jotted it down. I think it's true, though. Why are we so reluctant to talk about experiences that are so common? Why, for example, is it considered crass to fart??? So much so, that for a long time the word was banned in all of "polite" society....
