Sympatico

I'll never know the pain of childbirth, this much I know is true,
or felt the start of a tiny heart that beats inside of you.
Or the kick inside that fills with pride for all the world to see
but I hope one day you'll come to know that other side of me.
The one that holds you when you fall or lifts you when you're down,
that tastes the salty tears you shed and wipes away your frown.
Or champions your every cause because they mean so much
and feels content with quiet time spent, a glance, a smile, a touch.
So, don't shut me out because you doubt a man can ever feel,
I promise you this, your pain is mine and love will always heal.
