Swimming With Dolphins

When my daughter was fifteen
we went on holiday to Cyprus
always a life long desire of hers
was to swim with a dolphin

Imagine her delight and joy
when we saw a sign for this
paying for her was not cheap
but maybe the best sum ever spent

At the pool we watched the display
then off she went to kit up
on returning she was first
boy he sure took her for a ride

When she returned poolside
that dolphin kept returning to her
though others were waiting their turn
the delight on her face spoke volumes

At the end we all got to stroke it
and wow I have never felt so good
its skin was like nothing I have ever touched
silky smooth magical feel, a memory that lives on

I even got a dolphins kiss
as I knelt beside it

Their skin truly is a smooth as you describe, no scales. And how magical that one bestowed a kiss on you! I was swimming in the ocean here not long ago and felt something bump against me. I jumped to my feet, fearing it was a shark. Then I heard the lifeguard yelling, "Dolphins!" Indeed, there were many nearby. Love this poem! Carolyn

Carrie Richards May 16, 2014 at 6:53 PM I could identify so much with this one, Shadow! One of my favorite pictures of my granddaughter, Claire, is her kissing a dolphin recently!! It is adorable, (if I could I would post it to you....!!) Isn't that just the most amazing experience a girl could have? What a sweet poem!.....
