Swimming In the Deep, Somewhat Drowning

I can’t reach you, love
I have little energy
Diving in the deep…

I can’t teach you, dear,
How to swim t’wards me out here
It’s not so shallow…

I fear you will fail
If you try to catch me, babe
Swimming in the deep

My tears run so dry
As I try to lift my head
Up on high, on high

Diving in the deep…
Can you save me before I —
Drown without a sound?

My fears disappear
As I hold on to mere cheer
So sacred you’re here

Swimming in the deep
The watery suicide
In which I can’t leap…

Thankfully, my love,
You swim to safety, you’re found
While I’m lost below
