Sweet Respite
Poetry is intoxicating
It's drifting atop a silky smooth pond
Inhaling the air that holds the flavor
of calla lily perfume
It is the ocean shimmering as though
trimmed in silver
Powerful waves rising as if they are
riding a thoroughbred stallion
It is the light filtering through trees
Manipulating images captured in
Memories that evoke an embracing
warmth inside
It is lazy rolling hills covered in
Spring green grass, wildflowers
Tapering down the sides of the canyon
hugging the cove
It is heaven's spigot spilling
a benediction of love and beauty
all around me
It is my life
