Sweet Dreams
She lay down beside him
The only man she fears
She thinks about the torment
That he's put her thru for years
Of all the times he's cheated
Accusing her, of doing the same
She's forgiven him a thousand times
Til he repeats his twisted game
Each night she feels the beatings
From the bruises that never fade
She tries to count the excuses
And the reasons, that she stayed
She listens to his snoring
And smells the whiskey on his breath
She slowly reaches under his pillow
To grasp, the instrument of his death
With her finger on the trigger
She squeezes it in the dark
The thunder breaks the silence
As her hero finds its mark
Her husband now lay silent
It's the end of her silent screams
She quietly whispers in his ear
Goodnight sweetheart, sweet dreams
