Surprise
11/14/20
Girl, look me in my eyes
I'm not like all these other guys
I know, it's a surprise
I'm actually wise
And not what you thought was advertised
Don't worry about it, it's fine
Because I get overlooked every single time
The underdog by design
Due to assumptions of nearly every kind
Judging a book by its cover, with the eyes, and then their mind
I've been more than willing to try
And that's no lie
Before opportunity passes by
And I
Eventually die
Mind
Body, soul and spirit may fly
High
Into the sky
Or just lie still, right beside
Where it was last left, as we still have no explanation why
Please girl, dry your eyes, don't cry
I will stay by your side
There doesn't need to be any tribute, or final goodbye
While you can, make the best of it, because time
Continues to fly right on by
For a long time, I tried to be kind
Did little good, don't need to remind
Far too long I continued to be blind
Even though, I knew with life there is no rewind
If needed I'd make a beeline
For the tree line
And end up near or away from the Creekside
I can really see that she fine
Don't count me out, give me a shout and be mine
Girl, don't leave me in a state of decline
Let's go into the moonlight, on horses we ride
Doing whatever else we decide
If it really seems prime
If you'd like, you can be Bonnie and I'll be Clyde
These fools, always make room for tea time
This ain't the place or time for a peace sign
Won't get far with a weak mind
In a world full of much more than canines and felines
