Sunrise
An old yellow dog stretches and yawns for air
As vapor rises from his skin and hair
The long night yields to the sun's rays at last
Cold will stay around 'til shorter shadows are cast
The smell of brewing coffee offers the first sign
That the environs will fill with the human kind
Birds fluff themselves and shake away the night
Then begin their melodic calls before flight
Once darkened paths reappear in leaf filtered sun
A star disappears as the very last one
The first sound of engines reminds of what is to come
Traffic - the bane to many the savior to some
There is great comfort so the wise men say
That the sun is still where it was yesterday
