Sunlight Through the Cracks

I see the sunlight through the cracks,
And yearn, to feel its rays.
I want it to erase the past,
Make up for all the cloudy days.

I want to feel it on my face,
Feel warmth, dance across my skin.
I find it harder to resist,
As it beckons me from within.

It took me years to build this fort,
To protect me from such calls,
But now I standing here wondering,
Who would I be without these walls?
