Sunlight Set the Sea Ablaze

Sunlight was spun in filagree
Golden threads among froths of lace
On crested curls in merry chase

Burnished by waves in synchrony
I smiled at their lucent shimmers
As they danced in dappled glimmers

Sparkling like gems of brilliancy
In bright hues of topaz and maize
Jewels that set the sea ablaze

Gulls sang a gleeful symphony
This wondrous morning on the cape
Sol painted an awesome seascape

As dawn revealed her litany
On sunlight's gilded reflection
Break of day was pure perfection

Sunlight was spun in filagree
Burnished by waves in synchrony
Sparkling like gems of brilliancy
Gulls sang a gleeful symphony
As dawn revealed her litany

Such a variety of beautiful images you have created, Jenna, "sunlight was spun in filagree" is just one. Congratulations on your winning placement. All the best!

Love the imagery in your verse Jenna, I go to Turkey a few times a year and have seen some amazing sunsets and sunrises, that reddish sky, then that brilliant golden speck that gets bigger to herald the start of a new day. Tom.

That must be quite an experience, Tom. Your description is so poetic...you should write about the beauty you beheld in those moments. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts, Tom.

Amazing imagery fills your poem, Jenna. On the east coast, most of us only see beautiful sunrises, but in Key West they celebrate "sundown" each evening. Absolutely beautiful! Surely a winner. Best wishes, Carolyn

This makes me wish I was watching the sunrise over the Gulf of Mexico, one of my favorite things to do - walk on the beach in early morn. Thank you for taking me on this little trip, Jenna. Best of luck in the contest. Hugs, John

There's nothing better than watching sunrise or sunset across a body of water. The reflections are gorgeous in warm colors.

I live in Dallas but we vacation in Galveston sometimes. I’m a morning person and enjoy the peace of a sunrise.

You're welcome and thank you for your lovely thoughts, John. Do you live along the Gulf coast? I think a sunrise is just as beautiful as a sunset.
