Sunflower

Faded colors Wilt and willow Petals drift down People tread The petals dead The world is spinning ‘round And I turn towards the sun And feel its warmth upon my face And I stand up straight and tall My colors radiant in grace And I cared for by green thumb And the soil fertile and new I wake myself to the rising sun And a sky that’s bright and blue Clouds drifting far from my mind And a subtle breeze blowing by I am picked by green thumb I knew for my beauty, I must die.

I live in S.W France, and very soon will be surrounded by fields of glorious sunflowers! They are a joy for a few weeks, but look so sad when they shrivel and die, waiting for the time of harvesting. Hope you will check out some of my poetry! Best wishes, Shirley x
