Sundown
Twisted serendipity.
Led to believe
What lies underneath.
Suddenly an epiphany.
Voices are absent,
Faces so tragic.
Lost in the symphony.
Mind’s numb, eyes scarred.
Water dripping from the metal bars.
Big drums, filthy scum.
Fallen prey to the elements.
Irrelevant.
Gone without a trace.
Mind’s first in the race.
I gotta leave before sundown.
Faces staring at me all around,
Gonna drown
In the voices, the people came from out of town.
Loud chimes, petty rhymes.
Fallen prey to the elements.
Irrelevant.
So sick, dazed, blind.
The stars don’t shine; sunshine peeks out.
Lost in the sound.
Lost in the mental, the fabled rebound.
Gotta find myself before sundown
