Summertime

The lily of the valley,
Is tuned to say hello.
Gardenias drop their petals,
And gardens are aglow.

The smell of summer meadows,
A fragrance sweet and true.
Blossom to greet the sunshine,
And start the day anew.

I stop to wonder at the sight,
And gather in the scene.
Of winged petals caught in flight,
And grass that’s lush and green.

All the birds in chorus rhyme,
Their song so sweet to say...
Work must cease, and all eyes feast,
On such a glorious day.
