Summertime

I.

Ta da, ta da, flip,

like cards in bicycle spokes,

percussive shoe, flop...

II.

Long spaghetti straps,

full circle twirly skirted,

sundress in warm breeze.

III.

Morning sand dune climb,

woven basket, cheese, red wine,

noon apéritif.

I like it, I have a sudden desire to head to the beach. Perhaps I will get a glimpse of her.

How come I missed this delightful string of senryu, Edlynn!! You project lovely images and memories. I had forgotten all about the cards in bicycle spokes and the noise they made:) Hope you're keeping well. Regards // paul

Hello Paul! Still off/on PS as I look in and do things with my almost 90 year old dad. I think I failed with the cards in spokes idea. While IT IS a fun sound from our past, and not heard of now, I started with “Flip’’ and ended with “Flop” and meant to describe the cards-n-spoke sound as a description of our California footwear, the Flip Flop. I failed there. However, maybe the simple sandal is too subtle here but, I am delighted to jog memories of the wonderful and different sounds those spokes made! Thank you for reading this. Hope we get a break from the fires out West. Have a wonderful summer!

Oh no, whatever happened to your Spring? We had two glorious months of it and then, abruptly we did March again. So two weeks of rain for us but it beats Wildfire Season so, we’ll take it. Thank you for dreaming of long ago summers with me!

Thank you! A look backwards to more carefree summers. Mine are now consumed with evacuating for fires. These were fun to write. SO NICE TO SEE YOU HERE!

You are just fine reading this one. I did several because I could. I don’t expect people to read in return. It’s not that way for me. Thank you for reading this one!

I loved reading these nostalgic words Edlynn. I am still in spring...would stay in winter if I could as it is most beautiful and cooler in the tropics during winter. Have a lovely Easter my friend. I need to hide some eggs for the granddaughters soon. xxoo : )

Oh how fun that you have grand daughters to play bunny for... my kids are both MD’s so no grand babies for me. It is a beautiful Spring here with Super Blooms and everything emerald green. I just wrote about summer since I had to go through summer clothes getting ready for summer wildfire evacuations and I was missing how summer use to be for us here. Did anyone get the Roman numeral number I. that these were flip flops? My Soup mail had someone asking if this was a bicycle ride in summer. Hmmm! I might need to tweak that one. Thank you Connie for giving these your attention. I think I was too early with this one. HAPPY EASTER 2U!
