Summer Sunsets
I never dreamed the sun would glisten,
Closing my eyes only to listen,
To that unending breeze of innocence,
Full of ambition and forgetfulness.
There’s something in those summer sunsets,
That for a moment makes one vulnerable.
To muscled charm and brown eyed wonder,
Leaving the moon to clearly ponder.
Barely a teen but closer to a women,
Added with lemonade and ice cream sundaes.
Maybe never to see him one the leaves change,
But summer returns hold those memories.
Wanting the truth my parents warned me,
Would never get me off and going,
But wait another night is dawning,
I shouldn’t keep that boy of mine waiting.
It’s just the end to another summer day,
That I never dreamed would near it’s ending.
The skies are lined with yellows, reds and purples.
And as that breeze blows round the trees brim,
He holds my hand and pulls my face close to him.
