Summer Seashore

Hot August nights - the heat stands still
Starfish on beaches wait for tidepools to fill

Summer phosphorus - stardust on tides
Leaves sparkling footprints - on seashores abides

Rippled sands meet with a sly rogue wave
Steals kisses from the shore - stargazer knave.

In the northwest phosphorus, a tiny aquatic organism, shows up in August. When disturbed by tides and waves it emits a spark making the water and shore sparkle. It is a scene of enchantment.
