Summer School Icumen In
SUMMER SCHOOL ICUMIN IN
Summer schools are cumen in
Our annual rendezvous
We’ll make the best
Of a borrowed nest
Just like the wild cuckoo
Sing “cuckoo!”
Summer teachers cumen in
Jobs for me and you
With a predicate
To indoctrinate
Good English - and how to queue **
Sing - “I’m in front of you!”
Summer students cumen in
Hear their cases rumbling through
From far and near
With purpose clear
A good time, maybe learn a bit too
Sing - “We’ll win the World Cup not you!”
Summer DOS is cumen in *
She knows just what is due
Plan a zigzag scheme
That’ll work like a dream
Well - for a day or two
Sing - “Send more teachers, do!”
Summer leaders are cumen in
To find things for kids to do
Take them on fun trips
With just minor slips
Only losing one or two
Sing - “Where the hell are you?”
Summer Group leaders cumen in
With students many or few
Barry schmoozing so bland
They’ll eat out of his hand
Just like furry pussy cats do
Sing - purr mew
When summer school has come and gone
We’ll take a breath or two
Feel a little sad
Think - “It wasn’t so bad”
Maybe next year, we’ll know what to do
Sing - “I need a drink, don’t you?”
• DOS - Director of Studies
** For Americans: ‘queue’ means form an orderly line; a a difficult concept for some nationalities.
