Summer Memory

I have many Summer memories, to which I can relate! But, as I think back, one stands out. One, I think was really great! Our longtime wish, to visit Ireland, was finally coming true! My wife and I, and our two best friends, decided, that's what we'd do! We made our plans and packed our bags, and departed from New York! We sat down in Dublin, next day headed down to Cork! We did some touring on the way, to sites, much lesser known. But, our main goal, above all else, was to kiss the Blarney Stone! We went to Blarney Castle, at the earliest visiting hour, to find the "Stone of Eloquence" which is located, in the tower! We had to lay down on our backs, and stretch, which was slightly hairy! An attendant, held us by the hand, cause the height, was a little scarey! Kissing the stone, made it all worthwhile! I'll be lost for words, no more! This is a favorite Summer memory, from, July, 1984! NOTE: Blarney Castle is located in County Cork, Ireland. A Stone of Eloquence is located in the castle tower. Legend has it that, if you kiss the stone, you'll never be lost for words! Ralph Taylor 4/22/12

Wow! What an adventure you had, Ralph! Haven't been to Europe, but maybe I should plan a trip that includes a visit to Blarney Castle. Sounds so quaint! Guess we could all use a little luck from that Blarney Stone, but you'd have tto hold more than my hand for me to stretch and kiss it. LOL Enjoyed! Best wishes in the contest, my friend. Love, Carolyn

this is fantastic, ralph. I have seen pictures of that stone and how hard it is to lean back to kiss it. Just imagine the millions of mouths that have touched it. hahaha. Gosh, can you imagine if all of us at Poetrysoup went there to kiss it? The gift of gab would be so exceeding that everyone would want to read our poems!!
