Wake up in the afternoon, I go to sleep at two, I'm spending all my time just wasting time, nothing else to do, Too doo, too doo. I'm looking for a part time job, but (ha) not very hard, 'Cause I've got better things to do than do better things Without you. 'Cause you're my sunshine, shining all the time, Brighten up my day, chase my cares away, I'll spend my lifetime soaking up your rays, Living in a sunny Summer daze. Eat, drink, sleep the day away, okay, all day, all right, good night Tomorrow morning you'll be yawning, but I won't, 'cause I don't... Wake up 'til the afternoon, I go to sleep at two, I'm spending all my time just wasting time, nothing else to do 'Cause you're my sunshine, shining all the time, Brighten up my day, chase my cares away, I'll spend my lifetime soaking up your rays, Living in a sunny Summer daze. Carefree and footloose at the top of the world, Now I'm at the bottom as Autumn takes my sun away, Away off in the future lies my Summer, so it seems, I'll just sing my song of Summer daze only in my dreams... 'Cause you're my sunshine, shining all the time, Brighten up my day, chase my cares away, I'll spend my lifetime soaking up your rays, Living in a sunny Summer daze.

Aditi, I am glad this one appealed to you so much! Happy to give you thoughts of a carefree summer day. I wrote most of this when I was 17, and pulled it out and did a little fine tuning for the summer contest. It makes me feel young again. Thank you for the wonderful feedback, my friend!

Brandy, thank you for the fun comment! Summertime really does appeal to me and always has. I was trying to capture those days of youth when summer vacation meant pure freedom. Not so much anymore, but we always have memories! Hugs ~ John

Thank you so much for the fave, my friend. I am glad this appealed to you, I do love summer, especially the carefree aspect of it (which I suppose was more true as a youth). I'll always love the sunshine, though. Hugs ~ John

Your ode to the summer sun reminds me of my youth and the joys of summer because there was summer vacation from school we so looked forward to every year. I enjoyed this John. Congratulations on your wonderful win! Blessings xxoo

Me too, Connie. I think my favorite day of the year, even better than Christmas or birthday was the last day of school. Summer vacation was awesome. Thanks for the congrats and blessings, my friend ~ John

Ha, ha. A real lyric for summer, surely... Was surprised to see that you had penned this one. You strike me as 'Mr. On-the-Go' and 'Not a second to waste,' etc... Oh, well. So much for my ability to read people. lol. Nicely penned, John! Cheers, Gershon

Ha! I noticed you read my "Time" poem before this. I'm not really the go-go-go type that poem suggests. Thanks for the fun comment, my friend ~ John

Lazy summer days can't be beaten John, after I retired I thought I'd get a part time job to fill up a bit of time but now I don't know how I found time to work full time, three daughters don't help I've become the odd job man lol. Good luck in the contest Tom

Tom, I'm approaching retirement myself and catch myself daydreaming about it often, though i know many friends are busier after they retire. Take care, my friend.
