Summer Day
Just sitting on my porch with a drink and a breeze,
If it rains I don’t care, it’ll quiet the bees.
Far away is the sound of a lawn mower mowing,
I don’t care, I’m in shade and my grass has stopped growing.
Summer sun beats the ground but the shade neath the trees,
Looks so cool and inviting I should nap in this breeze.
But the butterflys fly and the hummingbirds flit.
And to me it just seems all I need do is sit.
Take it in, from my perch, and enjoy this great view,
These days aren’t forever, but for now this will do.
