summer day

harlequin first light
 pinwheels of spinning color ~
  lotus bloom opens

muggy afternoons
 humid summer monsoon rains ~
  birds sit in silence

nightfall holds its breath
 as twilight slips into dusk ~
  bright midnight stars yawn
