Such Vanity
Two lovely ladies were walking down the street
Said one to the other, “Wouldn’t it be neat
If my husband gave me some expensive perfume?”
In reply, the other said, “What a message, I think,
Suggesting, in the most subtle way, you stink?
I would much rather have a beautiful mink coat,”
“So,” her friend responded, “that you can gloat?”
“Not at all,” her companion replied with subtlety,
“Because it would be ever so becoming to me.”
“Think of all the minks who would give up their all
So that you might become the belle of the ball,”
To which the former did not hesitate to reply,
“What better cause for the little creatures to die?”
“Such vanity!” --her friend whispered with a sigh.
