Such Hypocrisy

I have lived through the greatest generations of American achievement, And it saddens me to read how so many Americans are in bereavement For what they consider to be the dying days of our enterprising democracy, While they live in splendorous comfort Because of our free enterprise— such hypocrisy!

I am reminded daily that we are not a Democracy - we are a Republic - until the electoral college gets abolished, MOST votes will not count.

This is true, Caren. My goodness, how long did you spend reading my poems? I'm astonished. Thanks so much!

Aye, I never saw any spoiled brats when I was growing up! Aloha!

You know, Rico, I can't remember seeing any either. This is true. We had nothing, but our neighbors didn't either. No one had any reason to think they were any better than anyone else back in the hills of West Virginia.

It's good to see your side of it. I am living comfortably thanks to social security. But I really do fear for the younger generation as I see inflation skyrocketing around us. Indeed we are STILL the freest of all the lands, and I pray this freedom can be preserved! Great poem for July 4 weekend.

Thank you, Andrea. Unfortunately, inflation hurts those of us on fixed incomes most of all, but I say we will adapt and we will survive. We have come through worse times, believe me. Or, at least I have. We Americans are survivors, and I believe that with my whole heart. Yes, we are, even though our freedoms are threatened every day it seems, still the freest "of all the lands." Thanks for your thoughts, my friend.
