Subway Ride

It was a gobba goo day at work
All was gray
Dull job
Dragged all afternoon
Looked like winter was coming
Lucked out
When the boss left.

Skipped before five
Ahead of the crowd
Found a ghost train
With plenty of room
Loosened my tie
Stretched out
Felt good
Found a seat
To daydream
And forget the day.

Got off my stop
Ran down the stairs
Two at a time
Hit the avenue
Saw a friend
I waved
Wondered if he saw me
He waved
And I waved back
It felt good to be home again.
